I tend to snack a lot, especially since I am pregnant. Are you a snacker? I try not to snack too frequently because taking breaks from eating is so beneficial for the digestive system and skin etc. What helps me to take breaks from snacking? Something tastefully hydrating besides just water. Water is my main drink throughout the day, but in order to drink enough fluid and enjoy being hydrated I like to sip on teas, coffee(decaf), apple cider vinegar tonics and more. If you know a thing or two about Ayurveda and what your constitution is you'll especially appreciate sipping on this dirty chai if you are a pitta-vata or just vata dosha. Don't know your Dosha? Find out here! Don't know anything about the ancient science of Ayurveda? I highly recommend reading this book!
Today I am sharing a guilt-free recipe for my dirty chai. I love chai hot or cold. This dirty chai can be had either way. I even suggest trying it as a milkshake. Enjoy!
- Dirty Chai -
1 cup of freshly brewed Chai
1 cup of milk (I used homemade hemp milk)
1/2 cup of black coffee
1 - 2 scoops of Coffee or Vanilla Ice Cream
Sweetener of your choice
Steep your chai for 5-10 minutes depending on how strong you like it. Because I add 1 cup of milk I like to let it go for 10 minutes. I really like Rishi Tea's Masala Chai for this. Add your milk of choice and coffee if you like it dirty. I tried out a homemade hemp milk that I really enjoyed with this. Almond, Coconut or Whole would work just as well. The homemade hemp milk is sweetened with 1 Medjool Date so I did not need any additional sweetener. You can adjust to your preference. Blend in the blender if you like it foamy. I recommend chilling this or blending with ice cream for a delicious milkshake!
